Planning a babymoon near Yeppoon, Byfield or Great Keppel Island? A quiet getaway before your baby arrives might be the most beautiful time to take maternity photos, relaxed, connected and away from the rush of everyday life.

I didn’t have maternity photos when I was pregnant. Recently, I photographed a relaxed outdoor maternity and family session at Stoney Creek in Byfield, just outside Rockhampton, and it completely changed how I see them. Because this is what I would have wanted.

This family told me right at the start that they hate having their photos taken. They felt awkward about it, but they wanted to remember their daughter just before she turned one. We met barefoot in the long grass near Yeppoon, took things slowly, followed their little girl’s lead, and created photos that felt natural, comfortable, and true to them.
