I’m a Rockhampton family photographer, creating relaxed, connection-focused family photos for mothers across Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

My work grew out of my own motherhood, from the deep awareness of how quickly these early years pass, and the need to remember them with care.

I craved photos of myself with my children, not just smiling moments, but the quiet, intimate ones that make up real life.

I remember my boys big gummy, sloppy, open mouth smooch straight in my mouth. Every mum knows them. What I find so beautiful about them, despite the drool that you didn’t ask for in your mouth, is they are learning to kiss you back. It’s a sign of what they receive from you and they are returning the favour, learning love, how to show you they see you. My favourite part is they are usually married with a double hand grab on your cheeks to bring us in close together. I don’t want to forget it. I didn’t have maternity photos. Do I regret it? Fence sitter...

When I was pregnant I really didn’t like the look of all these staged maternity shoots. I don’t like being the centre of attention, and I don’t like making a big deal of myself. I looked at the maternity images around me and it made me cringe.

When I shot this wonderful and natural maternity session it made me feel regretful. This is the type of session I could have done.

Swimming in a creek with my family, that’s something I do all the time, that’s me. These images I see in front of me look like art, of a person who is so content with her surroundings, I could do that.

I love this, this is why I do this. I want you to feel comfortable, to feel you, create art.

When I had my own family photos I asked for some very specific photos to remember my own motherhood. For me, I wanted to remember the day I could pick up my daughter, breath her in and hold her in my arms, because I won't be able to do that when she's 16, 30..50.

I don't ever want to forget what it feels like to pick up and hold my child.

One of the reasons I started this journey for myself is to capture motherhood. It is so deeply personal and it is ingrained in how we identify ourselves. I don't ever want to forget these young days, they will pass us by so quickly.

“They hate having their photos taken.”

When they first reached out, they told me straight up that photos feel awkward. That they’re not “photo people.” But they also knew they didn’t want to forget this time, their baby girl just weeks away from turning one.

So we kept it simple.

Barefoot in a field, just outside Yeppoon. Soft golden light, relaxed, no pressure. We followed her lead, took it slow, and let the moments unfold the way they naturally do.

And somewhere between the cuddles, the wandering, the Taylor Swift dancing and the quiet in-between moments… they forgot they “hated” having their photos taken.

That’s always the goal.
